How Many Ways to God?

The reason people are separated from God is because they have lived according to their own ways instead of according to God's instructions. As Creator, He has the power, knowledge, wisdom, and authority to guide our lives. Since each of us has disobeyed Him, each of us deserves the just penalty for disobedience (sin). That penalty is death.

However, even though none of us deserve mercy, God has provided a just payment for sin. Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, became man, lived a sinless life, gave Himself to die as a substitute payment so our sin can be forgiven, and raised from death to give us deliverance from sin and eternal life.

This salvation is a free gift to all who believe in Jesus as Lord to guide their life, as Savior to give forgiveness of sins, and as eternal God to raise them to everlasting life with Him. No one can do enough good deeds to pay the great price required for sins. No one can be good enough to merit forgiveness.

Salvation through believing in who Jesus is and what He has done is the only means by which a person can be saved and given a right relationship with God. Jesus said He is the only way to God. He declared that eternal life is only possible through believing in Him. He also taught that only a few people find the way to life and that the way is narrow.

"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me."   John 14:6

"Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it."   Matthew 7:13-14

Jesus is the only one who qualifies as the Savior.

  • A person who has sinned cannot pay for the sins of another - only one person has lived a perfect life without sin. Jesus is without sin.

"Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."   2 Corinthians 5:20-21

  • The price of sin can only be paid by God - only one person is both God and man. Jesus is God who also became man so that He could die in our place.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.."   John 1:1

"And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth."   John 1:14

  • To deliver sinners from death and give them eternal life, one must have power over death and power to give life - only God has power over life and death. After giving His life willingly as a payment for sins, Jesus raised Himself from death.

"For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son"   John 5:21-22

"No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father."   John 10:18

"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand."   John 10:27

"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies"   John 11:25

Conclusion: Jesus is the only way to salvation.
You need to be saved. You cannot be saved or go to God by your methods.

  • Quit living life according to your own ways and desires!
  • Believe in Jesus!

"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."   John 3:36
